Gratavid helps foster virtual tour for library expansion project

The Fayetteville Public Library is expanding. The walls of the current 88,000 square foot facility were filled to capacity, but a new $50 million renovation will nearly double the building’s size and quickly become the standard for what modern public libraries can offer.
“A lot of it is pushing the envelope of what libraries can do,” Roxanne Hazelwood said. “They are no longer a house for books and a computer bank. It is so much more than that.”
Hazelwood is the Development and Sponsorship Coordinator for the Fayetteville Public Library Foundation. She and her team are in charge of fundraising for the project, as well as providing updates to the donors. In the age of COVID-19, virtual communication has become of paramount importance. A good portion of Hazelwood’s donors are not active on social media. Frustrated with the lack of reach their social media video updates were attaining, Hazelwood turned to Gratavid for a solution.
“Our donors were a huge part of the push to make a more virtual and online communication, whether it be social media or other online communication, so they have been really pleased with Gratavid,” Hazelwood said.
This project is no small feat. Its nine-figure cost and extensive detail include a new 700-seat multipurpose event space, a 16-station teaching kitchen, and a hardwood dance floor for yoga, dance, and martial arts classes. In short: there are a lot of people invested in this project and its success. Hazelwood is in charge of keeping those people updated on the project, and with construction site tours not being possible due to the pandemic, Gratavid offered an easy, one-stop-shop to create a virtual tour. On top of that, it delivered that tour to the donors’ emails and smartphones, creating a simple and intimate experience.
A fully controllable communication channel that is easy to navigate may be more important now than ever in this time of virtual communication. Gratavid also flips the script of social media consumption: instead of the consumer coming to find updates, the updates come to them in a clean and concise fashion.
Over the past 90 days, the Fayetteville Public Library’s Gratavid account has seen an 85.19% unique open rate, and a 48.57% unique click-through rate.
The videos have been an overwhelming success. “Too great. Love seeing us grow and realizing this will be the library for the nation,” one donor said in response.
The project is set to be completed sometime this fall. It’s been a long road to complete this bold vision, and Gratavid assists in keeping everyone plugged in on the progress as the barrels down the homestretch toward completion.
“I definitely think without Gratavid it would have kind of been a nightmare,” Hazelwood said. “Now, I can focus on the content and the product. I am not having to worry about the logistics of uploading all of the emails. I have already done that. I keep coming back to this one platform, one place that I am able to create this message without having to re-setup everything.”
