How Ottawa Network for Education Used Personalized Video to Express Gratitude to Their Donors

Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE) was looking for a way to effectively thank their donors for donating to their COVID-19 relief efforts. They didn’t want to send a generic note or automated email. They wanted something that was genuine and would truly show their appreciation.

Enter Gratavid.

Gratavid is a tool that allows organizations to create personalized videos at scale and send them via email or text. Nonprofit organizations use Gratavid to personally thank their donors, collect testimonials, and bring their donors to the scene by showing them the impact of their donation.

ONFE partnered with Gratavid to create personalized videos thanking donors for their generous gifts. The campaign exceeded their expectations and reached a large audience in a short amount of time. 

Campaign Objective

Ottawa Network for Education wanted to thank their donors and inform them of what their donations accomplished over the last 15 months of the pandemic. They didn’t want their donors to feel like another name on a spreadsheet. They wanted to stand out in a genuine and authentic way. 

“Overall, we wanted our donors to feel our gratitude, to feel like a part of our community, and to be informed of the accomplishments of our major programs, not just the program to which they may have chosen to give” said Megan Piercey Monafu, ONFE Marketing & Communications Manager.

They needed a way to communicate with their donors and Gratavid seemed like the perfect way to put a personal touch on their thank-yous and to generate conversations with individual donors – especially at a time when they were not able to see them in person due to pandemic restrictions.

Their entire team worked together to create the videos and were able to reach almost 500 people with their first campaign in a short period of time!

Their campaign finished with a 73% unique open rate, a 52% unique CTR, and a 23% response rate. Of the 492 contacts who received a video, 112 responded!

The best part was all replies and engagement data were automatically saved back in their CRM by utilizing the Gratavid Bloomerang integration. Their team saved hours of time inputting data.

Megan's Tips

1. Use the task list and assignees to get the entire team and your CEO involved. This shows your donors that your company truly cares about them, and will tremendously help with the success of your campaign.

2. Have the Gratavids come from the constituents' assigned fundraiser. It puts a familiar face behind the campaign and continues to build the relationship. It's a great touchpoint from a fundraiser without an ask involved.

3. Tier which donors receive personalized and generic videos. For example, any donor who gave 2 or more times during the pandemic received a personalized video. We created a specific, but more generic Gratavid for new donors who gave once.
